Mark Thursfield
Before launching MTA Media in November 2001, Mark Thursfield had been Head of PR and Media Relations for Sportal.com, the highest profile of the sports.com companies in the first booming of the Internet. Sportal worked with governing bodies such as UEFA, and also individual clubs such as Juventus, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and also Benetton F1 Racing.
Sportal was also one of the top line sponsors of Euro 2000 and also sponsored
Juventus in the Champions League. The company also enjoyed commercial relationships
with many high profile brands, including Ford, MacDonald’s, and Granada Media
amongst many others.
Prior to joining Sportal, Thursfield had spent six years as head of PR and
Media Relations for Eurosport TV in the UK, leading campaigns for the Channels
coverage of events such as Euro 96, France ’98 as well as Rugby World Cup’s,
Olympic Games and F1. He was also responsible for the promotional launch
of British Eurosport.
